Beaches
Playa del Postiguet, Alicante's city beach. This attractively coloured sandy beach gets packed in summer. Once the sun starts to set, you can amble back up along the promenade to grab some delicious tapas in one of the many beachfront restaurants. Albuferetta. An intimate, residential stretch of sand in the residential development of the same name to the northwest of the city.
Northeast of the town, Playa de San Juan is larger and usually less crowded than the city beach. Almost 3 kilometres of golden sand make San Juan the most popular beach in Alicante. El Saladar-Urbanova beach is located 5 kilometres south of the city centre, in a quiet area. Its fine, golden sands stretch for over 1.5 kilometres, making it perfect for strolling along. Its setting is semi-urban and to the north there is a line of sand dunes, which enhance the view.
