La Nucia

La Nucia is a small in the lovely municipality of Valencia of Spain strategically located in a fruit valley between Benidorm and Callosa d'En Sarrià, 3 km from the coast of Altea. The urban centre is situated on cape that overlooks Mediterranean Sea.  Sierra Aitana and Aixortà surround it and protect it from the cold northern winds.

La Nucia offers a great number of activities both inland and in the coastal region of Marina Baixa. The historic quarter contains a network of white houses, dominated by a parish church, with many charming little corners from where the visitor can enjoy gorgeous views of the surroundings.

Basically, in La Nucia you will find everything you need for a fulfilled life, variety of international restaurants and shops, variety of leisure entertainment and sports, properties, variety of sea and mountain views.

You have several international schools nearby, all medical facilities you may need and good connections with public transport.

Sports

Playa del Mal Pas, Benidorm (8.9 km from the center) Small beach with beautiful golden sand with warm perfectly clear waters, ideal for snorkling.
Playa de l'Olla, Altea (8.4 km from the center) Pebble Beach, a pleasure without sand with turquoise, beautiful water.
Playa del Torres, Villajoyosa (12.9 km from the center). Lovely sandy beach with picturesque setting of the beach houses, all painted in different colours. A gorgeous view, no matter what direction are you looking! The sand is very fine and the entry into the water is very smooth
Cala Finestrat, Benidorm (10.6 km from the center). Brilliant,clean beach, plenty of lifeguards, many restaurants and shops around.

Things to see

The parish church, dedicated to La Immaculate Conception, constructed in the 18th century.
Parque Natural de la Serra Gelada.  2.5 kms walk through the clean natural park of Albir to the lighthouse.  Breathtakingly beautiful, the magnificent views at the lighthouse are well worth the steady uphill walk, imagine being the lookout for pirates centuries ago
Horseriding in Rancho La Ofra. A relaxed trek through the gorgeous Guadalest Valley with well cared for and well trained horses! Beautiful landscape and surroundings and delicious tapas afterwards.
Fonts de l'Algar (Partida Segarra s/n, 03510 Callosa d'En Sarria, Spain)- well maintained waterfall area
Bodegas Enrique Mendoza (Partida Romeral s/n | Alfas del Pi) Charming tour to a small and particular winery with excellent ecological quality wines.
DinoPark Algar (Callosa d'En Sarria) Spend a brilliant day out with kids. Here you will find a beautiful Cactus garden with dinosaurs, lots of picnic areas and little amusements for the kids, beautiful views, a paddling pool and giant sand pit.
Parroquia Nuestra Senora del Consuelo (Plaza de la Iglesia,Altea) . Take a great walk up in nearby town of Altea, the area is steeped in history and the views are fantastic.  This beautiful church is located in the small square which leads to the viewpoint of Mirador Cronsistas de Espana and is worth visiting just for the views.

El Xato (Avinguda Esglesia 3, La Nucia, Spain) Michelin quality restaurant. For a fantastic dinner with friends take the "Temptation menu" with the matching wines and the food.
Nuevo Alkazar (Calle Argentina,2) Here you can try brilliant gratin mussels.
Unoom Restaurante (Plaza de les Nits) A very special place with Mediterranean food. The ambience is amazing- all white setting with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the Sierra Aitana mountains and pretty village of Polop.

To get there

La Nucia is situated  51 kms to the north-west of Alicante and the airport, and only 10 km away from the most popular tourist resort on the Northern Costa Blanca, Benidorm.

You can get to La Nucía by road using the Motorway of the Mediterranean (A-7) and turning off at nº 65 exit. The N-332 road is the parallel axis to the Valencian Coast, which connects La Nucía with Alicante and Valencia. There are three main exits to La Nucía: Terra Mítica, Benidorm and Altea.
